Agency/Program Description
Mosaic West Sac provides safe space and supportive services to those impacted by traumas such as homelessness, poverty, behavioral-health struggles, and domestic violence. We are committed to the principles of restorative community across all of our programming, leading with empathy, inclusion and trusted-messenger activities.
This Program Coordinator position comes with responsibilities in two of our most unique programs: the Recovery Cafe, a daily safe space for growth and belonging, and Community Tables, a food-distribution pipeline that reaches to low-income corners of West Sacramento. Working cohesively as part of an agile and caring team, this individual will exemplify trauma-informed characteristics while planning, creating, coordinating and problem-solving across the numerous logistical needs of the programs.
This position opening is part of a tremendous growth season for Mosaic West Sac. As our programs are expanding rapidly, so too is a 2-acre campus of services - the Mosaic Village - that currently features active construction projects to provide housing, a new commercial kitchen, and a new Recovery Cafe building. We’re looking for very unique team members with a unique blend of passion for our people, ability to work alongside them, and the competence to deliver for them.
Characteristics and Qualifications:
Empathy and compassion for our target population, and earnest desire to see these individuals cared for.
Strong communication skills.
Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to work in, build and lead small teams.
Ability to coordinate with partners, vendors, and other program stakeholders
Ability to plan and ideate helpful programming for our clients.
Self-starter with situational agility and a readiness to take on different roles and responsibilities as needed.
Problem-solving initiative.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds above your head.
Valid California driver’s license. Vehicle not required.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Recovery Cafe Director on the planning and execution of daily cafe programming and special events.
Under the direction of the cafe director, manage the daily function of the cafe, including setup, closure, and supervision of volunteers and interns.
Work with community partners to schedule and coordinate regular Community Tables pop-up meal events at sites around the City. The Program Coordinator will act as the lead for these events and the most visible face in these trusted-messenger activities.
Help create and monitor an expanding food-generator network, collaborating with other Mosaic staff in recovering edible food from local grocery stores, school districts and restaurants and coordinating these resources for redistribution.
In both programs, help train and supervise paid interns from our JAM Academy workforce development program. Drawn from our priority population, JAM interns help with a variety of tasks while learning soft job skills, life skills, and leadership skills.
In both programs, help implement and monitor best mental-health and safety practices.
